“We spend so much time on the “WHO” during Valentine’s Day but at Dixxon, we’ve always celebrated the PLACES along the way. Freeport, Maine was incorporated into this beautiful country February 14th, 1789. As I sat there, watching the ebb and flow of tides, unfamiliar lighthouses that I wished I could hear the stories of, a small red building adjacent that by day is an image of absolute bliss but by night, over hundreds of years, this coast was hazardous and rough for those seeking a newfound freedom in building this country.
A picturesque reminder of what created the “US” we know now. Multicultural and diverse. If today is about love, this is the love I chose to see. The melting pot. The freedom to create dreams into reality.
And somewhere along those lines, as plaid is my medium of art…. This is how I tell my story. I left my heart in Maine.”
