Invented in 1882, the FMJ Round was created out of the necessity to improve feeding characteristics in small fire-arms. The hard metal used in these bullet jackets was less prone to deformation, improving the feeding process. Ultimately allowing the bullet to withstand much higher velocities, giving it the ability to penetrate cover, armor, and other obstacles that other bullets could not. 🪖
