Long before it became the most brutal off-road race in the world, King of the Hammers started as nothing more than a few friends settling a debate in the desert.
Back in the early 2000s, a group of hardcore off-roaders gathered in Johnson Valley, California, arguing over one simple question...what was faster through the rocks: a rock crawler or a desert racer?
So instead of talking about it, they decided to prove it.
They marked a rough course through the desert, sent the rigs out across high-speed lakebeds and straight into the unforgiving rock trails of the Hammers and just like that, the legend was born.
