🚨Long post alert🚨 As many of you know I’m about 16 weeks (4 months) pregnant with baby #3. We are super excited and again I’m amazed at what the human body can do. But even in all the amazement, I still struggle with body image. I believe most women at some point do, and for me, it’s the worst during pregnancy. For me, it doesn’t matter how much I work out, how “on” my nutrition I am, my body gains weight all over, my shape changes and my bump “pops.” The other day, I was teaching my spin class and this is the conversation I had with one of my participants. “You popped early for only being 16 weeks pregnant.” And as I processed the comment I suddenly felt the need to justify my bump. “Oh, well...it’s baby #3, I have a short torso and all my babies have been close to the 10lb mark.” The conversation ended with the participant saying, “well aren’t you glad it’s a bump and people just don’t think you’re chubby?!” Ugh...I sat in the empty spin room replaying this in my head 1000 times. Number 1, why do we feel like we can comment on others’ bodies whether they are pregnant or not? Number 2, why did I feel the need to justify my body and it’s ability to grow a human to this stranger? Number 3, it doesn’t matter if I’m pregnant or chubby...period. It took a lot of self talk and refocusing to change my perspective on what happened that day. Instead of focusing on what made me feel less than, I’m focusing on the fact that I am still able to teach spin, I am still able to motivate myself and hopefully those that were in my class that day. And, I’m growing the next member of our family and that is effing cool. So remember mama, you and your body belongs to you and it’s effing awesome. You’re strong and we’re doing the damn thang. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #builtlikeamother #howiduoFIT #trainingfortwo #fitpregnancy #duoFITpregnancy #fitandbumpin #fitasamother #duoFITmamas #embracethebump #4monthspregnant #bumpdate #babynumber3 #bodypositivity #momswholift
