100 sailfish in a calendar year, from a bay boat. Capt Matt George, Stuart, set the plan in motion February 15th 2019 with the final fish being caught Dec 30th at 1:30pm. All fish were caught from a 22-foot Islamorda Boatworks Morada bay boat, out of Stuart, FL. Between weather delays and finicky fish it almost didn’t happen. “On Monday, December 30th, we started in 135 feet of water moved into 125 feet without a bite. There was no conversation on the boat just silence and the sound of wind through the rods. At 1pm I heard of a boat on the VHF getting a few sail bites in 165 feet so we decided to pick up and move. I cleared the lines one at a time. I had cleared two lines and then the dredge with only the long line still out, which I started to crank in. And suddenly it happened, the line came tight and the sail immediately went airborne.
We fought him for a few minutes, billed him up boat side took the hook out got a few pics and sent him back with a clean release and started to celebrate!”
