Silver was the great white stallion of the fictional, masked Texas Ranger known as āThe Lone Rangerā. For those of you who havenāt heard of the Lone Ranger, it was a US TV series. The Lone Ranger is an enduring icon of American culture that conducts himself by a strict moral code. According to legend, The Lone Ranger and Tonto find Silver living in Wild Horse Canyon where heās severely injured during a battle with an enraged buffalo. The story goes that the Lone Ranger kills the buffalo in order to save Silver and then nurses him back to good health. When the horse recovered from his wounds, the Lone Ranger prepares to set him free but Silver chooses to give up his wild life to carry The Lone Ranger around the Wild West.
Whenever the Lone Ranger mounted Silver, he shouted the oft-imitated epithet "Hi Ho, Silver!ā In the United States, Silver was given the Award for Excellence in 1957. This award is for animals who are outstanding in the television and film industry.
