Cava is @92rachelstanley beloved Shetland Pony. Rachel, one of the winners of our Face of Equus competition, is pictured here with Cava during our photoshoot with her. Looking good, Cava!!! But what do you know about Shetlands? Apart from their hallmark cheekiness, the Shetland pony is a breed of pony originally from the Shetland Isles. They range in size from a minimum height of approximately 28 inches (7.0 hands; 71.12 cm) to an official maximum height of 11 hands (44 inches, 112 cm) at the withers (11.2 hands (46 inches, 117 cm) for American Shetlands). Shetland ponies have heavy coats, short legs and are considered quite intelligent. They are a very strong breed of pony, used for riding, driving, and pack purposes.
