🌱 As part of International Composting Awareness Week (try saying that x3 quickly!), we’re clearing up the difference between biodegradable & compostable - two terms which are often used interchangeably to refer to a product that will do no harm to the environment…. Which isn’t strictly true!
By definition, almost everything is technically 'biodegradable'- your car and the titanic included! Being biodegradable simply means that the object in question will eventually be broken down by microbes without a specific time frame. Compostable, by contrast, refers to something that can be broken down within a certain period of time (our packaging, for example, fully decomposes in around 3-6 months) 🌱🌏
