Ethique (or Sorbet as we were known back then) all started back in 2012 in a tiny kitchen right in New Zealand by @briannemwest out of frustration for the abhorrent amount of waste created by the cosmetics industry. Back then, plastic-free wasn't the huge concern that it is for many today. Solid beauty bars weren’t a ‘thing’ and they definitely weren’t available from your local supermarket or pharmacy.
Our entire range is completely solid and always has been. By creating highly concentrated products, we’re able to do away with water waste but also, plastic waste. This means that one of our shampoo bars has just 8% of the carbon footprint of the equivalent liquid product 💚
