My biggest tip for movement. Especially if you’re just getting started on your fitness journey: Take small, consistent steps that you know you can do long term. There is no quick fix. You have to be patient and open to finding the best steps to implement into your daily routine. It’s a lot easier to build up/change habits if you take the small steps to get there instead of jumping into something unattainable. You have to be honest with yourself. That’s #1 For example (this was me for quite some time in my early 20s): It’s been a while since your last workout and you are ready to get back at it, maybe you’ve been off on your nutrition too. So now what? You’re sad and disappointed in yourself and maybe feel like you need to ‘punish’ yourself for your ‘bad’ behavior. You go to the gym and you’re doing all the things and starting to feel good right? But, you’ve got to keep a really close watch on yourself with restrictions or you might slip up. Which is already stressing you out thinking about how you’re going to mess up and then you’ll be back where you started. It’s been a couple weeks now, so you let yourself ‘slip’ and you enjoy a weekend. At the end of the weekend you’re beating yourself up so much that you decide, screw it, I’ll just keep slipping. And then the cycle repeats. Sound familiar? Take it one day at a time. One step at a time. Be patient with yourself. A cycle of fear and hate will keep you in a cycle of fear and hate for your body. Move with gratitude for your body. Find something that you truly love and enjoy doing. Don’t do it because it’s the trend or it’s what everyone else is doing. Do it for you! Move that body! You deserve to be your happiest self living your happiest life. It’s 100% possible.
