Tuesday’s mood: #slay • This weekend I shared at my training the concept of power poses. I swear by this and since I adapted it, it has never failed. What is a power pose? In psychology it has been hypothesized that when one assumes a “power pose” it can induce positive hormonal and behavioral changes. In other words, your body language does indeed speak volumes, but not just to others but to your own body as well.
When you hunch, put your head down, cross your arms, there are powerless poses and they induce behaviors of being down and brings out depressive hormones and so the body follows, it also translates into fatigue, low self esteem, etc.. But when you stand up tall, put a little twist in your hips, flip that hair, “open up that chest”, walk like you run this Motha’, you induce the very same hormones and behavior that will get you to literally “run the world”. So next time you have to make a big decision, go for an interview, have a date, are offered an opportunity...remember this, even if you are afraid, doubtful and uncertain...whip out that power pose and make 💩 happen!
The basic how-to:
1. Stand up tall, feet apart
2. Hands in a fist, on the hips
3. Raise your chin slightly
4. Inhale deeply, opening up the chest
5. Exhale slowly as you feel every ounce of air leaving your lungs.
6. Repeat as much as needed.
Think wonder women/ super man! 🙌🏻 ——————————————————
