Ever wondered how moisturizer works? The skin has three layers: outer (epidermis), middle (dermis) and lower (hypodermis). Blood vessels deliver water to the dermis and some of that water seeps to the epidermis and then promptly evaporates. Moisturizer helps trap the water to keep the epidermis hydrated and smooth.
