At-Home Cahhdio 🏃♀️💨
Since gyms have been closed (I haven’t trained at a gym in almost a year now 😶) I have a newfound appreciation for home cardio. Especially now with limited time for workouts and some days where try as I might, I can’t get outside for walks in the freezing cold, blocking off 20-30 minutes to get my body moving and sweat a little has really made a difference in my mood 🙂
If you’re doing lots of cardio for body composition reasons, your time would be better spent lifting weights and tailoring your diet to your goals but there are MANY other benefits and many reasons to train that have nothing to do with this! And please remember movement should never be a punishment! 👊
As always (or almost always; I do try 🙈), I’ve provided low impact alternatives. You absolutely don’t need to jump around to get in a good workout and plyometrics are NOT beginner options (high impact exercises can be hard on your joints). Choose what works best for you!
1. Squat pulses (opt. jump)
2. Back-catchers (opt. push-up)
3. Mountain climbers
4. Reverse lunge (opt. jump)
5. Leg switches (you can sub something like v-ups if you’d like but my postpartum core isn’t ready for that yet)
6. High knees
🔹I used 30 seconds of work, 15 seconds of rest intervals. I completed this as a circuit and repeated 3x with a 1-2 minute rest between rounds.
PS Thank you so much to everyone who joined me for the Live cardio session earlier this week. As much as I enjoy the sweat, it can be really tough to motivate myself to do cardio at home and I KNOW I’m not alone in this :p. I appreciate the accountability nudge 😉. I’ve decided to make them a regular thing for members and I’ll make some available to all you guys too!
Happy Friday, you guys!
Chartreuse set was an amazing mail surprise from the wonderful fleo peeps. Thanks guys! I feel like sunshine☀️
