Set back. Discouraged. Alone. . 👆👆👆 This is real. Those are real words used to describe real feelings. . Due to medical reasons, I’ve been on bed rest for coming on almost a month. As an athlete in any sport, a month seems like a lifetime. Not only was the barbell ripped out from under me, the body weight was too. I found myself creating a hole in my couch as the days went by when I wasn’t even allowed to make my own dinner. I lost my sense of purpose and a lot of my happiness. . The day came today. The day I was allowed to get back under the weight and tackle all the lifts I have been craving for a while. Full of excitement, I dragged all my equipment into the backyard. Dancing around like a fool, smiling from ear to ear. Excited was an understatement for me! Unfortunately, I’ve never felt so defeated... I set an unrealistic expectation that after a month of laying in bed, I could come back 100% on day one. I was full of disbelief, tears and doubts as I could barely move the weights. . As I was done feeling sorry for myself, I went back to the videos I recorded and found these two pictures. Pictures that looked like a woman who is determined to achieve the goals she has set for herself. A woman who has focus written all over her face. A woman who has her head still in the game. I was about to delete these videos because I felt like what I accomplished today wasn’t enough. And I’m so glad I didn’t because I did accomplish something. Mental strength. What I was feeling inside is not what was reflected on my own face. And it took a lot of reflection to realize it’s not over. It’s truly incredible how inspiration can come from a photo of my own. . It’s time to get my head back in the game. #inspiration #motivation #workouts #workout #recovery #selfreflection #slowandsteady #olympicweightlifting #oly #olympiclifting #barbell #toestobar #burpees #burpee #weightlifting #transformation #mindovermatterathlete
