🤪Overtraining is rare - but overtaxing is not.
.
😈You train like a mthrfckr. You train so hard. Harder than anyone else you know. You train so hard that you’re constantly sore, feel mentally drained for a good part of the day post workout, sometimes lack focus and get into some fun moods where no one wants to get around.
.
🌾Despite all of this - the gains aren’t coming.
.
🌚What’s even more frustrating, other people around you are progressing at a faster pace and they’re not killin it like you are.
.
W.T.A.F. 👿.
.
💀Could you have overtrained? That evil demon that swallows gains and destroys motivation? First off, chill the fck out. This is a rare and misunderstood phenomenon. Most likely, you’re overtaxing your systems.
.
👻Overtraining doesn’t necessarily mean training “too much”. Just because you did 20 set of curls (🤣) doesn’t mean you overtrained them - probably wasn’t smart. You simply cannot “overtrain” with 4-6 hours of training a week. Cases of overtraining involve typically high level athletes who are putting a lot of work on their bodies - specifically their nervous system with over 20 hours of work a week. This is when overtraining can happen.
.
🤒Yes, you may feel like you are getting symptoms of being overtrained... But you’re not exactly overtrained. Maybe overtaxed though.
.
Signs of overtaxed:
🌀Lack of morning 🍆 or decrease in sex drive.
🌀 Sudden increase of water retention.
🌀”Flat-feeling” muscles.
🌀 Noticeable decrease in grip strength.
🌀Decease in explosiveness in movements.
🌀 Weights feel heavier on your joints.
🌀 Lingering soreness.
🌀 Itchy eyes.
🌀 Lifts feel less precise.
🌀 “Hungover” feeling upon waking.
.
🆘If you’re feeling these symptoms frequently, you should assess your training program and recovery protocols. Take care of your body so it can perform at it’s best.
.
📅Program rest days and stick to them. Sleep. Eat enough calories to fuel and recover well. Have days where you give your nervous system a serious break (don’t train “on the nerve” - don’t be in competition mode all the time. Do workouts NOT FOR TIME but for quality).
.
Take care of yourselves fam 💜😘.
