Being brave isn’t the absence of fear. Being brave is having that fear and finding a way through it. - beargrylls Ever since I can remember my friends and family have told me I’m the strong one. I’m the rock. I always have my shit together. Can we just be honest THAT IS SO MUCH PRESSURE TO ALWAYS APPEAR TO HAVE YOUR SHIT TOGETHER ...lemme tell you. Believing that you should show no fear and also be brave can be incredibly lonely. “They can’t see me like this... I have to have it all together” - false. Lately I’ve been trying to exercise my vulnerability muscle (and should probably thank brenebrown for that). Most of the time when I make a “brave” decision, I’m scared shitless. “It this the right one? What will others think? How can I be sure I’m heading in the right direction?” This was especially difficult growing up because looking behind me, there were 7 (yes - I’m the oldest of 8) siblings looking up to me. BUT... I’ve learned to thrive off the pressure, not resent it. I’ve learned that we are all going to make mistakes in this life, and we will make it out in spite of those mistakes. MISTAKES AND FAILURES are just opportunities to learn how to NOT do something, so the faster we fail, the faster we learn and can try again, this time with more experience.
