✨”Augh I can’t have that food...”⁣ ⁣ 👉🎙Swipe to listen!⁣ ⁣ I hear people say this all the time.⁣ ⁣ My question back is... Why not?⁣ ⁣ 💡Here are 3 things to consider if when that phrase pops into your head:⁣ ⁣ 1️⃣Do you truly have an allergy or sensitivity that causes your body to not react well?⁣ ⁣ Here’s the thing, self diagnosed allergies or sensitivities CAN be a form of restriction, but that topic is for another day...⁣ ⁣ However, if you TRULY have an allergy or sensitivity where your body doesn’t respond well, that food won’t be a best choice for your body and that looks different for everyone. ⁣ ⁣ 2️⃣Did someone or a diet tell you it was unhealthy and not allowed?⁣ ⁣ This is where most people get tripped up and we’ll dive into this.⁣ ⁣ 3️⃣Are you being mindful of making healthy choices?⁣ ⁣ 💛There’s nothing wrong with being mindful about food choices.⁣ ⁣ However, a problem occurs when people get into a frame of mind where they are “allowed and not allowed” certain foods based on dieting rules.⁣ ⁣ You can be mindful of choices without guilt and without having to abide by someone or something else’s rules.⁣ ⁣ With intuitive eating, it doesn’t mean you have to eat donuts every time they pop into your head. It doesn’t mean you have to take the pizza every time it’s offered to you.⁣ ⁣ What it means is that there is not fear or restriction behind the choice because you know you COULD have it at any time and it wouldn’t be a make or break moment.⁣ ⁣ It’s totally fine to opt out of eating foods that aren’t nutritious when you’re mindset is in a healthy place. The healthy mindset is crucial in this.⁣ ⁣ It’s not that it’s bad to turn down foods that aren’t nutritious periodically, but its a mindset switch from, “I can’t eat that,” to “I’m choosing to not have it today, but I could if I wanted.”⁣ ⁣ That shift is powerful.⁣ ⁣ 💡It’s not that you CAN’T have that, it’s that you’re choosing to be mindful.⁣ ⁣ 💛With awareness and mindfulness, you’re not coming from a place of fear or restriction. You’re coming from a place where you can make nutritious choices often, but still enjoy any food periodically without fear.⁣ #thedailykelsey 📷 gordonly
