I had a good chat with a friend the other day as I was stressing out and wavering back and forth about whether to redo 19.4. Not because I was trying to beat anyone else. Not because I have any shot of going anywhere or doing anything bigger based on my performance (🤣), but because I have such high expectations for myself and I thought I could have done better. This happens every week and it’s why I’ve ended up redoing two of the workouts so far šŸ™„ It’s because I start focusing on all of the things that I could have done better or differently and starting fixating on the what ifs and question whether that was truly my best performance. But the question I wasn’t really thinking about was WHY?? Why does it matter and what am I trying to prove? Doing the same workout two days later and getting a few more reps doesn’t prove that I’m any more fit then than I was on Friday. And honestly it’s me letting my emotions and my anxiety take way too much control. I let myself CRY over this stuff! Come on!!!! SO. After having this conversation, I came to the following conclusion. I’m going to take all of the things that I ā€œcould have done betterā€ on, and use those to create goals for myself. I’m going to leverage my emotions around this to work FOR me, rather than against me. I’m going to be purposeful and intentional in my training and accessory work and use this as a baseline to compare myself to in the coming months. I’m actually really proud of myself for coming to this realization and decision. Maybe that’s silly, haha. But I’ve even already started a list...
