Oof. Arnold 2022
1st place University Nationals 🥇
4th place AO1 (still a little salty about this)
Let’s get this started then… I woke up around 7AM after my water cut still exactly 51k, so 2k heavier than what I should have been. Honestly that isn’t terrible. I sucked/spit fruity mentos for about an hour before starting my sauna sessions. Around 8:30 I went in our sauna for quick intervals. At about 12:30 I finally hit 49.2k on MY scale. So I thought - “sweet” - we have 1.5 hours of traveling time and we will be set for weigh ins at 4P. Y’all… I went to the venue at 2:30P and checked on their scale:
I was 49.95k. When I saw that number I freaked the f*** out. I had 5 tubes of mentos left, and I instantly called Alyssa to ask what the hell do I do. I honestly thought I wasn’t going to make it. I had already been without water and food since the day before. I booked a session at USAW’s official sauna location. I sat there for 30 minutes wiping off every drip of sweat that I could so I could sweat more.
I felt like I was completely going against what my body needed me to do. I took a little bit to post about this because I was still experiencing some aftermath of this cut - I had sores in my mouth from the mentos, and I had some digestive issues for a couple days as well.
Anyways, I walk into my weigh in and I’m literally 49.05 - my lady was so nice and said just “walk around”. 10 minutes later I made it. That’s a 3k/6.6lbs cut I had to make the day of. Im not proud of that whatsoever and I even planned on documenting my cut, but there isn’t anything in me that would want to encourage what I had to do. Yet, I’m proud of my fight just to compete. I truly love this sport and that day I fought for the girl who just fell in love with the game. I was tired of competing to prove to people that I’m better off now, I’m a better athlete, etc. I competed for the love of weightlifting 🖤
61k easy for snatch
64k barbell went behind me
65k nailed it - but they overturned it because of a shoulder dip
78k CJ - miss x2
Hit 79k on my last chance
