Spent my morning reading about the parable of the sower. If you’ve never heard it before, it’s a story Jesus tells about a farmer who scatters seeds on different types of soils and environments. The seed scattered on the road gets eaten by the birds, the seed scattered on the gravel sprouted quickly but withered quickly as well since no roots were developed, the seed scattered in the weeds were choked out as they tried to grow, but the seed scattered on GOOD SOIL produced a harvest of GOOD FRUIT. Parables are stories, lessons, analogies, pictures that show us something bigger about life. The seed on the road is like the person that stays surface level, afraid of going deep; the seed on the gravel is the person who gets so excited and inspired at first, but doesn’t create habit, routine, or practices that establish roots of commitment so their motivation fizzles out just as quickly as it started; the seed in the weeds is the person who gets caught up in what everyone else thinks - losing sight of the actual goal, distracted and worried, growth stunted. But the seed scattered on good soil is the person who TAKES HOLD of the promises of God, ESTABLISHES ROOTS of commitment, waters and nourishes in the waiting, and eventually sees a yield of GOODNESS and HOPE. Encouraging you today to keep planting those seeds in the good soil, dig those roots down, and stay patient in the waiting - the good fruit is coming. 🌰🌱(Based off Matthew 13)
