I woke up to seeing a quote this morning that I haven’t been able to get off my mind all day:
“You won’t see it for what it is, until you stop looking at it through the lens of what you want it to be”
I’ve been notorious for this throughout my entire life. Not only in my relationships, but within myself as well; and it’s something I hope to continue working on in this new year. You really can’t make progress (in any capacity) if you’re not honest about where you currently are. So stop getting caught up in the “what it could be” and look at things for what they really are. Stop seeing people as “potential” and look at them for who they are right now.
Something I’ve truly regretted over the years is not accepting the reality of things/people/situations because I was too busy worried about how I could fix or change it. Not only did that cause me to miss a lot in the moment, but it was also usually always a wasted effort.
So here’s to being more aware 🥂 to ourselves, our needs, our situations & viewing them for exactly as they are and not what we want them to be ✨
