Atlantic Coast Classic 2023
I could’ve clipped all of the videos of just the good parts, but how real is that?
The reality is this was our first time competing together. There were awesome moments from each event, but there were also not so awesome moments. Miscommunications happened, mentality took over (aka pain cave), and we were exhausted doing two full days of intense working out.
With all that being said, I loved every single moment. We got 17th place out of 84 teams… yes 84. Our first time as a team?! How can I be upset with that! From the moment Maura PR’d her snatch, to the moment Jailene hauled her booty on the box jumps- my teammates gave it their absolute. That trumps results.
Competition setting is always a different beast- exciting to see the work you put in but also the most nerve wrecking thing ever. I played a collegiate sport and it programmed me to hold myself to a higher standard than most and I take those unmet expectations a little harder (ok a lot harder). When I couldn’t hit my weights or go unbroken in reps that I could in practice, I felt like I let my team down. But we’re a team, and sometimes your team has to hold the weight for you and vice versa, just like my girls did. 🥺🤘
We were bad ass. And I couldn’t be more proud and happy I had these two by my side.
Never satisfied, but always proud. So ready to take my fitness to the next level.
