Had myself a little train-through meet at the Barn today. First time I’ve competed and not tapered for it. As is typical with this sport, the meet had both highs and lows. I nailed my snatch opener at 87kg. By far the strongest 87 has ever felt or looked. Missed 91kg for attempt 2. Almost held onto 92kg for my third attempt, but came up short due to some technique errors. I felt like I had the strength for 95, and with some technique fixes and more heavy reps, I’m confident I’ll have 92 (or more) next time. I’ve been dealing with some serious mental hurdles on heavy jerks recently, and it showed today. I was timid on my 105kg opener but made it. My 2nd attempt was 108kg, which ties my platform PR. I got 2 reds and a white from the judges, so it was considered a “no lift” due to a bend in my right elbow. This shook my confidence a bit, but I came back and attacked 108kg for my third attempt, more aggressively this time, and nailed it. I debated giving 110kg a shot for my 3rd attempt, but decided to stay conservative. Wondering if I made the right call on that, but can’t go back on it now. So the elusive 110 continues to evade me on the platform; but not for much longer. Grateful for another opportunity to compete in the sport I love. Amped to get back to work and see what I can do after another training cycle and a taper. Snatch: 87kg / 192lb Clean & jerk: 108kg / 238lb Total: 195kg #onward
