A couple of weeks ago I turned 30. I had this whole idea on how the weeks would play out leading up to my birthday and the things I wanted to do before then. Shatter Slam being one of those things.. since last year I made it a goal to compete in at least the intermediate division before I hit the big 3-0. When the date was announced, I marked it on my calendar and took the weekend off from work. I worked pretty hard. I stayed consistent and did the extra work. I ate a pretty clean diet. I PRd a few lifts and was able to get some new skills under my belt leading up to comp day. I knew this division was going to be really tough. The weights were pretty damn heavy, the workouts were rough and my body was not moving as I expected it to… did I complain a little? Absolutely. I couldn’t feel my legs for half of the day 😂. That being said, I managed to keep my cool all day. I was having a great time with my partner Crystal. Both Crystal and I agreed to go into this comp to just have some fun and push our limits. We did just that. We pushed each other, we laughed, we hugged and I’m sure we swore a bit. The leaderboard didn’t matter. I’ve never felt so accomplished leaving a competition. Knowing the work I put in to prep for comp day, the PRs, the new skills, competing along side some girls I never in a million years thought I’d be able to compete with, and not being a complete nervous wreck? A major win. Already Looking forward to the next Slam 😃
&& Shoutout to the best partner dancinbeauty82 for committing to do this with me! Twas scary, Twas fun, let’s do it again sometime 😆
