Nothing about our current situation is okay.
I am broken that the ability to work from home or to be provided with paid sick days is not categorized as a basic need for everyone. COVID is disproportionately affecting lower-income Canadians; if we are truly all in this together, this needs to matter to all of us.
All Canadians deserve equal protection. So while we cannot change the laws, we can donate to some of the charities or not-for-profits that are working to provide protections for the communities largely affected.
It will not fix the problem, but it is better than sitting back and accepting in silence.
Yesterday Folklor donated to The Black Legal Action Centre (BLAC), today we will choose another charity, and tomorrow another.
