When clients come to us looking for black diamonds, we usually recommend they pick black spinels instead, as seen in this cool half-eternity wedding band. Why's that, you ask? Well, black diamonds tend to be very heavily 'included' which means they are filled with chunks of carbon, and they are often given treatments to make them look uniformly black. As a result, they can be brittle, and unlike colourless or less-included diamonds, they aren't great at standing up to high temperatures. This means there's a bit of risk involved in resizing rings with black diamonds. In contrast, black spinel holds up better than black diamonds, both in setting and in soldering. Since we want every ring we make to last a lifetime, we'll always steer you towards the choices and materials that we know can stand the test of time! 💎🖤✨
