In the jewellery world, we refer to this gemstone orientation as an 'east-west' setting because the length of the gem is oriented along the horizontal, east-to-west axis rather than the more traditional 'north-south' placement. We're big fans of east-west set rings at FTJCo! It's a very cool way to add a little twist to a solitaire style. This client chose an emerald-cut purple sapphire for their ring, but the east-west setting can be applied to ovals, marquise shapes, even pear cuts! ↔️💍✨
