HAPPY CANADA DAY! Everything in this picture is Canadian. This oval brilliant cut M-coloured diamond *and* the hand belonging to our fabulous Head of Retail Sales, Nicolette Kemp. Did you know that diamonds from the Ekati and Diavik mines in the North West Territories are among the oldest in the world!? They have been dated as old as 3.5 - 3.3 billion years. The oldest rocks on earth come from Quebec at 4.3 - 4.1 billion years old. Two @ftjco staff members had the pleasure of hearing this from the horses mouth so to speak, at a GIA meeting this past fall from a geologist/geochemist that has been involved in dating diamonds (a recent scientific achievement). They were recently in a Netflicks series "Explained: Diamonds" S2 E1 2019. Their name is Dr. Karen Smit Geologist/Geochemist. They got their Ph.D. at the University of Alberta, Canada!!! Isn't our country great! We make diamonds and doctors. Thank you, mic drop.
