Recap from our last honeybee colony rescue! ? We get this question frequently about what we do with the comb and bees when we perform a cut out. Well, first we give the bees some smoke to calm them down when we do this they gorge themselves in honey letting us work as we please, next we cut the comb out CAREFULLY and place each piece into a foundationless frame place those in a nuc box aka temporary home until they get wooden hive body and lastly we scoop the rest of the bees into the nuc box until we think we have the queen. You know you have the queen when you see this invasion behavior.. this is what an artificial swarm looks like because the bees didn't decide to swarm rather we swarmed for them. So then we just have to wait until they all go in the nuc boxes so we can take them to their new location where they can rehabilitate if they decide to stay, love them and monitor them to the best of our ability. In other words..we really love these creatures and they are a lot of work but totally worth it! #urbanbees #urbanhoney #beekeeper #beekeeping #urbanbeekeeper #urbanbeekeeping #apiculture #bees #honeybees #colony #beecolony #savethebee #bees #comb #beehive #wildbees #honeybeecolony #beekeeper #savingbees #beerelocation #ocbees #oc #orangecounty #beekeeper
