A few years ago, photographer and artist @maka_iriek found a box of 100-year-old photos taken by her great-grandmother's brother. They documented life in the south of Spain in the 1920s, and Macarena was amazed to see a number of portraits of strong women with powerful poses and gazes. Those photos became the springboard for her latest photo series 'Caliza', which reflects on female strength, and how it has been represented in art throughout history.
"Feminism isn’t about making women stronger. Women are already strong. It is about changing the way the world perceives that strength.” – G.D Anderson.
