Adiós, 2021. 👋🏽 A year of perpetually saucy stovetops, waterfront runs and bike rides, and reclaiming the little blooms of normalcy when they came.
I’ve been uprooted most of my life, simply by nature of who I am. Curious, restless, looking for acceptance — preoccupied by my potential life in other timelines, living in sunny Barcelona or taking up in a Hong Kong flat. The timeline where I’m doing a travel podcast or photographing Patagonia, being absolutely everywhere at once except here.
I seem to have let go of that existential fomo this year — accepted my current reality in the best of ways. Leaned into a routine that is truly beloved: morning sweat, heartful conversation, day-job journalist, television nights. I’ve learned Spanish to about level C1 (how to do it: give your entire life to the language). Released my first collection of NFT prints with urth. Had a divine month in México and Guatemala, where I remembered why travel mattered so much.
But the truth is these things take a while. Things that transpire over the course of the year or years. And 2021, all things considered, has put a lot of things in motion for me. Something I’ll continue to simmer over the fire, as it were — day by day, with a bit more hope for adventure in 2022. For you, dear friends & Internet pals, I wish for that too: a new year coming to beautiful fruition. 🤍
