REPOST: GIRLS!!! Do not look at these photos and compare yourself, whether good or bad. Don’t even comment on my body. Instead, READ. The photos are to get people’s attention bc UNFORTUNATELY we all stop the scroll to look at someone’s body, to pick it apart or wish we looked like that (sometimes both). So, now that you’re here, keep reading. ❤️ Here’s the real freakin’ deal... two nights ago, I had a body image meltdown. I looked in the mirror and bawled bc of my “winter body” (again, plz don’t comment on whether or not I look good, it’s not the point). I KNOW in my head that no matter what my body looks like, I AM OKAY. I am still beautiful, no matter what. But I had been on social media too much and had subconsciously been comparing my body to other runners’ bodies and other health coaches’ bodies and I got thrown off my mental game! So the next day I tried on the new swimsuits I got for a trip next month. I told myself, “Cherie, you are going to take these pictures and the ONLY thing you’re allowed to do is say nice things to yourself about your body AND who you are.” So I did. It was like an exhale that needed to happen; I had been holding my breath while looking at pics of others. Silliness! Anyway, the point is: I read some shocking statistics about the teen suicide rate for girls going up 82%, and experts are attributing a lot of that to social media - comparison, cyber bullying, feelings of inadequacy, and always being connected to others’ seemingly perfect lives. First of all, I used to have a “perfect body”, very thin & ripped - and MY LIFE SUCKED bc of how obsessive I was. Second of all, even in these pictures I’m flexing as hard as I can LOL! Third & most important: everyone on social media only shows each other the things we WANT to share. That’s our prerogative - but just don’t go thinking anyone else has anything better than you. Sweet friend, YOU are more than your body, more than your possessions/money/clothes, more than your job... and we need YOU as you are, all the beautiful parts, even your flaws. Social media is NOT real life - it’s just a snippet. Go live your real life in your real body and tell yourself KIND, LOVING things.
