as some of you know i was recently detained and profiled at the US border which resulted in me not being able to enter the country for the signing tomorrow. For three hours i stood in a windowless room with no clocks, washrooms or water. my phone was confiscated and i was interrogated like a criminal for personal information like bank balances and the birthplace(s) of my parents. They even took fingerprints and a MUGSHOT. i was afraid for my safety, and all because I wanted to visit my friends in NYC.
I wish I could be there tomorrow but I also take this experience as yet another reminder of how racism thrives in 2017 ❌??
