Since living in the UK I’ve noticed most major grocery stores wrap their produce in single use plastic.
For the last several months I went on the hunt for plastic free options. I found a great local farm where I’ve purchased most of my fruits and vegetables from and also built my own vegetable garden in my yard that has yielded food as well.
It’s not a profound swap and quite simple to do but you’d be surprised at how much it adds up, especially since eating is an ongoing necessity we all do.
Another easy way to reduce plastic on a day to day basis is choosing to wear and purchase more naturally made clothing like icebreakernz. Plastic isn’t something we would commonly associate with clothing but many synthetic fibres are made from plastic.
Natural fibres are better for your skin and help to reduce the long term impact on the environment as well.
If you’ve been following me for awhile you will know that I’m a big fan of icebreakernz and wear several of their pieces on the daily.
Plastic Free July is ending soon but there’s lots of simple, easy and effective ways to continue to reduce plastic waste on the daily like these examples.
What are some other examples to help reduce plastic?
