(3/5) “Tim started growing beautiful multi-species crops… literally it was like walking through a daydream. All these amazing flowers and insects buzzing everywhere. There’s no need for pesticides, no need for fertilizers. And the animals just went nuts for them, the cows thought the sunflower heads were like lollipops. They were not only feeding the animals but doing the more important job of feeding the underground livestock and regenerating soil.
“In the last three years we’ve seen a huge increase in bird life, which is incredible. The last few winters sparrow hawks have come back. You go into one of the hill-terrace paddocks, and there’s literally a flock of thousands of small birds – how can that not bring joy? It’s good for mental health.”
