"We don’t do a lot of hiking in the summer to avoid the heat, so we always look forward to soaking in summit views once the temperatures start to drop. Little did we know when we planned a day hike up Mt. Abraham that we’d be hitting the Carrabassett Valley at peak foliage. The seasons tend to move at their own pace here and the excitement of chasing the elements around the state will never tire. We truly feel that Maine has it all. From the mountains to the sea and all the rivers, lakes, and forests in between, there’s no shortage of outdoor enjoyment here. Add to that our seasonality and you have an ever-changing palette of recreation options. From early spring whitewater runs on the rivers rushing with snowmelt, to offshore sea kayaking trips to escape the summer heat, crisp and cool morning rides on gravel roads lined with red maples in the fall, and hut-to-hut trips on nordic skis in our colder months, you can never get bored in Maine.
