It’s that time of the year again - SALE season is in full swing.
Of course, we understand everybody loves a deal, but maybe not everyone knows what those super deals mean to your average shop.
Nowadays, perfectly good collections that have barely been in the shops for a half a year are expected to be marked down to 50% or more. We are constantly being asked when our SALE starts or if we can give discounts.
As an independent retailer, we buy quality brands that are well-designed, made from quality materials and under fair working conditions. We believe that these collections are sustainable and better for the people that make them and the environment we live in. By selling these collections, at the full price, we can pay our salaries, rent, taxes and the upcoming collections. When we are forced to mark down collections due to the pressures of the market, we don’t make enough profit to cover our costs. Small independent retailers can’t be compared to the Goliaths of fast fashion who mark down their collections to 70% and still make a small profit.
If you like shopping at boutiques with a personal touch, where we help and advise you, consider that the shopkeeper needs to make a living, too, and that selling at half prices means that the shop will eventually be forced to close. In the end, this will also affect quality brands, because shops won’t be able to buy the collections anymore.
So next time you buy something at the full price this means you’re paying for the true value of that piece of clothing and that your purchase keeps the circle going.
Our SALE will be starting soon with discounts up to 40%. If you’d like to find out when, subscribe to our newsletter and we’ll keep you posted.
And if you’d like to share or comment on this post, feel free to do so. There is no judgment here, these are the plain and simple facts that you’re probably not aware of when you see a price tag.
