I’m rewarding myself at different increments in my #fitby40 journey with inkbox temporary tattoos. I’m planning to get a real one for my 40th birthday and this is a great way to try some things out. The 🌲 holds a ton of meaning for me because of a realization that I had while watching a tree at the top of Cadillac Mountain in acadianps.
It was SO windy and this somewhat line evergreen was bending so far that I was sure it would snap. Except that it never did. And in between the gifts of wind, it righted itself and stood tall again. I realized that because it wasn’t fighting the wind (ie: trying to stay upright the whole time), it had the energy to return to standing in between gusts AND when the wind was gone.
So, I looked at my husband and kids and said “I want to be like that tree. I want to willingly bend with the storms so that I have energy to stand back up when they pass- or in between gusts. I also want to trust that I can bend and not snap.” Upon sharing this with a friend, she reminded me of the dollyparton quote that “storms make trees take deeper roots.”
So yes, there will for sure be an evergreen on my real tattoo. But for now, I’m enjoying remembering that moment atop Cadillac Mountain every time I look at my wrist. #fitbyforty #peletonapp #cyclacebike
