Our Engineering Maintenance team at Integria’s manufacturing site, located at Warwick in Queensland, decided that they wanted to do something consistent and different to help raise awareness about mental health issues amongst the workplace, finding that it is not usually spoken about except during events like R U OK Day, Movember or occasional toolbox talks. After some investigating, they found the company @TradeMutt Workwear which is a social impact workwear brand, by tradies for tradies. They chose shirts that are funky and eye-catching to get a conversation started and to raise awareness about mental health issues among tradies and blue-collar workers. Purchasing a shirt helps fund professional mental health support to tradies which TradeMutt funds through TIACS (This is a Conversation Starter). The team voted and picked Wednesdays to wear the shirts to break up the workweek. If someone forgets to wear the shirt there is a penalty, where they need to buy tea break on the following Friday, which usually consists of pies or sausage rolls! This makes it fun and light-hearted and helps break down the barriers to get the team talking. @tiacsfoundation #trademutt #mentalhealth #bytradiesfortradies #tiacs
