To my 20 year old self,
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I know you're sitting there consumed with worry about your future and the "big girl" decisions you're having to make. You won't believe me when I say this to you, but everything is going to be okay.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
No, you aren't going to be the CEO of some fancy, high end fashion company in New York. You're going to be the CEO of your OWN fashion company like the boss you should be.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
No, you aren't going to marry your high school sweetheart or that guy in college you moved across the country for. You're going to be okay being on your own because you learn to love yourself for who you are and confident in what you want in a relationship. You're going to marry someone you never saw coming and who is going to sweep you off your feet and show you what true, unselfish love is.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I know you think you don't want kids, but let me tell you, you are the BEST mom to two amazing kids. You are fierce, but you’re human and you have a lot of stress in your life and responsibility. The moment you walk through the door after a long day, those kids light up your soul and all your worries melt away as you hold them.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You don't have a big fancy car or live in a super fancy house, but it is filled with endless, copious amounts of love. There are toys everywhere, the sound of kids laughing fills the air, and a dog that sits at your feet to keep you warm because you’re always so cold (that part hasn’t changed).
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Does everything work out how you think? No. But it does work out so much better. So trust me when I say, stop worrying. You’re going to have a beautiful future.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
xoxo,
the 34 year old you
