"There is no force equal to that of a determined woman." - W.E.B. Dubois 🖤 I didn't realise how much I needed Scottsdale until we got there. For the past year, I've been grinding my wheels non-stop while recovering from having a baby, shutting down our stores and pivoting my business due to the pandemic, figuring work/life/home balance with two kids, opening a new store location, and growing more than I could have ever imagined.
I was exhausted. I knew that. Nathan and I got to the resort & I felt everything melt away. We relaxed by the pool, ate some amazing food, sat by the fire in the evening, shared wine and talked about our goals in the future 🥰
On one of our last days there Nathan asked if we could hike up Camelback Mountain. I really just wanted another day by the pool, I didn't want to go on a 2.5 hour hike 😂 We started hiking & it escalated very quickly to one of the most difficult hikes I've ever been on. It was very steep and just when I thought it was over, it inclined even higher. It pushed me mentally & physically and it reminded me so much of the past year that I had experienced.
It clicked with me then that I would not give up. I would keep pushing. I would keep grinding. I would need to take a moment to catch my breath and keep climbing. With every step, I put every hardship in 2020 behind me. I would keep telling myself "you can do this, you're strong, you'll be proud once you get there." I would make it to the top 💪
And I did. I made it to the top to experience the most breathtaking view. I made it to the top and inhaled the deepest breath & relaxed my shoulders. I made it to the top and closed my eyes and felt the sunshine on my skin. I made it to the top & reminded myself that I can do anything I put my mind to.
My dad always told me "no one will ever be able to stop you Sara once you put your mind to something", and I my friends, I have some big plans for our future here ❤️
