I still remember that moment. My "aha" moment where the light bulb clicked & my career changed forever 🤯 I was living in NYC & having my yearly review with one of my bosses. I had been working 50-60 hour work weeks and trying so hard to get that promotion. I took on more responsibility, did what was asked of me, all with a smile on my face. Our department had done millions upon millions of dollars in business that year alone. I had been an integral part of the team that achieved that & I thought I would be recognized, even a little, for my dedication. I didn't get a raise. Instead, I was told to stop working so hard to get ahead so quickly. It hit me in that moment that I was done. In that moment, the raise, the bonus, and anything else they promised me didn't matter. Instead, the dream for what is now JO+CO was born 🥰 I was done trading my life, my time, and my happiness for the endless pursuit of promotions. It was just all too exhausting & none of it mattered to me anymore. If I was going to work 60 hour work weeks, work around the clock, holidays, weekends, and sacrifice my time, it was going to be for me and my own company. I was willing to take the pay cut and live simply. I was willing to work those late evenings, long hours, and make even more sacrifices because I was finally doing something that I loved & seeing my passion come to life. If you're reading this like "yes girl I feel you", then know it's never too late to have your "aha" moment. It's never too late to start pursuing your dream! Entrepreneurship isn't for everyone, and it doesn't mean that you'll achieve freedom, wealth, or happiness. In fact, a lot of the times it's the EXACT opposite 😆 But, maybe it's a career change, maybe it's going back to school, maybe it's becoming a stay-at-home mom, or going part-time because you want to be with your family more. Whatever the reason may be, it all starts with you saying no to something & yes to something else ❤️
