What is hypertrophy? Hypertrophy is the increase in the size of muscle cells, as well as the number of muscle cells in the body. There is a difference between strength training and hypertrophy training. Bodybuilders typically train for hypertrophy, whereas powerlifters typically train for maximum strength and power. A key difference in these two styles is the time under tension(the time it takes you to complete the set). The optimal time under tension to achieve hypertrophy is 30-60 seconds, compared to 4-20 seconds for maximum strength. If your goal is to build your body and improve your physique, don’t sell yourself short; make sure you’re working your muscles for an adequate amount of time each set to maximize muscle growth. #kaged #neverstopevolving
