#Repost @fitdoclifestyle ・・・ It’s time for some Supplement Science! Here’s what you should know about branched chain amino acids (BCAAs): . BCAAs have been commonly touted as the “Anti-catabolic amino acids”, meaning consuming BCAAs will limit muscle breakdown after a tough workout or maybe a killer cardio session, but there’s much more to know! The Branched Chain Amino Acids are Valine, Leucine and Isoleucine. Here’s what they do: . Valine is the support amino acid. It supports Leucine and Isoleucine in preventing muscle breakdown by providing glucose to muscles when ingested. It also aids in transporting nitrogen from the liver to tissues, where it is used for various processes. . Leucine is the boss when it comes to building, or rebuilding muscle. Leucine, at sufficient levels, activates the pathway mTOR, which is an anabolic pathway that turns on protein synthesis and thus muscle building! . Isoleucine helps build and rebuild muscle, but in a different way. Isoleucine assists in glucose uptake into the cells. While thats great for training, the big benefit occurs after training, when the increased fuel can be used to put repair into overdrive! . So what an when to take them? About 30 minutes before your workout and within an hour after your workout. If you use Pre-Kaged before and Re-Kaged after workouts, you’re already covered! If not, 5g before and 5g after will suffice! Finally, taking BCAAs first thing in the morning can halt any catabolism endured by effectively starving yourself overnight! . I hope y’all learned some good stuff about BCAAs today. What questions do you have? Let us know below! 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻
