IPL and Laser, what’s the difference? You might think that these two methods of hair removal are pretty much the same, as both use light therapy to cause semi-permanent damage to the hair follicle. However, there are a few key differences between IPL and Laser that you should be aware of if you are thinking of choosing a long-term hair removal solution. The difference between IPL and Laser is based on the model and strength of light that is emitted. The professional salon laser treatment utilizes a concentrated beam of light that penetrates targeted areas of the skin, providing a stronger immediate result. IPL, on the other hand, produces multiple wavelengths of light that cover a larger surface area of the skin. These wavelengths vary between 500 and 1200 nanometers. The larger surface area targeted by the IPL creates a faster treatment but the immediate result isn't as strong as a laser. IPL is also a way less painful procedure than laser.
