Did you know that trees have their own social network, known as the Wood wide web? 🌳
This underground network is created by mycorrhizal fungi that fuse with the roots of trees. The funghi network connects all trees together and helps transfer water, carbon, nitrogen, and nutrients between them. It also allows adult trees to share sugars with younger trees. Sick trees can send their remaining resources back into the network for other trees to use.
A forest can be seen as a superorganism rather than a collection of individual plants.
