FUTURE FROM WASTE - KITX supports National Recycling Week and has created the FUTURE FROM WASTE SERIES – Crafted from discarded marine litter and fishing nets removed from the ocean, Econyl® recycles and regenerates nylon waste in a closed-loop process creating a thread which is knitted using solar power in Italy, removing waste from the ocean, and reducing virgin nylons and polyesters.
Today, 13,000,000 tonnes of plastic leaks into the ocean every year, killing 100,000 marine animals annually. Imagine a future where all this harmful marine litter is removed from the ocean to create new product rather than virgin creation of single use plastic.
We need to rethink our waste and see it as a resource that can be turned into new products. By keeping these materials in circulation for as long as possible, this benefits the environment by reducing the extraction of virgin materials for new products, as well as the water and energy it takes to make them.
