I used to believe I could only be happy or feel beautiful if I was perfect. I used to try and hate myself into being my former thinner self. I believed I had to be a constant work in progress and weight loss became my constant way of life. Every week was a new diet, new magic pill, new workout and new solution. The amount of money and time I spent on this obsession has cost me but what really took a hit was my mental health and happiness. I missed out on so much life because I felt unworthy of living it. Since when has my body ever stopped me from enjoying those things? It hasn’t it was always the lies I fed myself. This body is strong and healthy and capable regardless of its weights, size and flaws. Learning to accept my body so that I could take part in life is the best thing I have ever done. It wasn’t easy and it still isn’t some days but embracing myself and loving myself at every stage has been so fulfilling. I don’t miss out on days at the beach with my kids anymore and I go on those vacations and have a heck of a time regardless of what size I am. I’m fully present in my life and my kids lives because I refuse to let how my body looks consume me. I also know that I am an example to my kids and I hope that helps them as they navigate a world that sells them the idea that they are works in progress. They don’t need to be. I want them to know the freedom it has taken me so long to learn myself. I want them to live their lives fully and to never let something as trivial as their weight or pant size hold them back from everything they want out of this life. I want them to live and I want them to own who they are without believing they have to be what others want them to be. I want them to know that freedom. #knix
