This is/was me 6 months postpartum.
I’ve been holding off posting it for a month or so for no particular reason. After the spartan race this weekend I've been on a dilutional endorphin high still so thought why the F not just do it now.
I’ve spent a lot of my life like most, criticizing, finding or looking for faults in my body. But there is something so freeing in NOT hiding away from how you actually look. For not waiting for tomo or the next goal to be happy. I'm sick of being made to feel we should look a certain way either when pregnant or after and I find the snap back culture so damaging.
Not to say I’m comfortable stood here like this. The look on my face probably expresses how I feel better than I can articulate.
I just wanted to show myself (random bruises and all) for those who like me feel like what they see on the internet doesn't always represent them. Not to say everyone does or should look like me, my own body is all I have to show, no airbrushing, no flattering pose, camera trickery, just me.
I think we can all agree that we need to normalize post-baby bodies in all their glory in every shape and size. We are all normal and how we look after a baby shouldn't be what's important or what’s defines us or our worth.
Here’s to celebrating what our bodies can do and for how we look NOW whatever stage you are at pre or post-baby.
Thanks, jaclynrothphotography for capturing this and making it fun in the process. For a moment I felt completely FREE! ✨✨✨
