After months of being the only one to hold you close, soon others will be able to take you into their arms too.
After keeping you safe, nourished and warm, soon you’ll be out in the world where I cannot protect you quite as closely as I have.
After carrying life inside me, feeling every kick, hiccup and roll, soon there will be an empty space where you once were.
After always being an ‘us’, soon I will just be a me again, and you will be you.
The days are long, uncomfortable and tiresome, but they are precious, irreplaceable, and running out.
